The BBC report that
The anti-cancer properties of carrots are more potent if the vegetable is not cut up before cooking, research shows.
Words fail me. Almost. Its late and I am already fed up with the appalling standard of Horizon programmes so let me be quick:
- Carrots have no known anti-cancer properties. i.e. eating carrots (as opposed to vegetables in general) does not correlate with low cancer risk.
- This story reports that one chemical is present in higher quantities in carrots when they are boiled whole rather than chopped. So what.
- Is there amy evidence that this chemical is in any way relevant to human health? No.
Story over. Bedtime. Why does the BBC publish this nonsense?
